INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION

The Light Studies #2

In the Home of Shadows #2 competition, entrants are tasked with creating a residence for an imaginary couple, adhering to the singular stipulation that no artificial lighting is allowed within the dwelling. The judging panel seeks designs that meticulously explore the impact of natural light on architectural choices and how it can shape the overall design.

I have decided to enter this competition as I consistently need a project to work my mind around. I enjoy the problem-solving of a fresh brief and the creativity that comes with architectural competitions.

Our small team working on the Home of Shadows #2 are working on a design orientated to a sensory environment within a secluded area located in Indonesia.

Sitting in the initial stages of the design process, we are formulating a dramatic structure that plays with the use of concrete to create an abstract building that heightens the sensory activity for its inhabitants through acoustics, texture, visual diversity, an open structure strategy and further integration with the natural landscape around.

The Contemporary Home

This competition is part of a strategic partnership between Buildnr and ArchDaily that aims to explore "The Contemporary Home".

Hazlehead Art School Portfolio

Curriculum Project created through Freelance Tutoring

I have been providing a tutoring service for a secondary school art and design teacher from Hazlehead Academy in architectural design. I provide workshops of various teachings in the general ways of architectural design in the initial stages of the RIBA Plan of Work.

In the course, I teach how to conceptualise a project with the necessary considerations of architectural design.

Referring to stages 0 - 3 of the RIBA plan of work, I teach design strategies and techniques per these levels of project development. This involves physical and digital modelling, creating orthographic drawings, design principles, history, materiality, and other fundamental notions of architecture that can be translated to a higher education audience.

I organise workshops and provide a list of arrangements that can be taken on into the curriculum, inspired by activities from my university experience, that can broaden the perspective of the students. I take a step-by-step approach to slowly progress a vivid portfolio and project example to take on at Hazlehead Academy.
